Podhadi is a recreation area at the forepart of the Vranovska water-reservoir, spread out on both sides of the river Dyje. The village lies close to the cycling route Slavonice- Vranov nad Dyji - Znojmo. Podhradi nad Dyji use to be called “Frejstejn” by the local castle ruin. The ruin of frontier castle, built in 13th century, can be visited on the right bank of the Dyje river. It is one of the eldest aristocratic buildings in Moravia. In the beginning of 16th century it had been rebuilt into a strong-hold but the work has not been finished, so still survive as a ruin.
